Fun Volunteer Positions for the Western Canada Summer Games

There are a number of exciting positions available including: Placard Bearers, Bow Banner Handlers, Games Flag Handlers, Feather Banner Handlers, Balloon Handlers, Sports Ball Balloon Handlers, Sun Balloon Handlers, and Beach Ball Throwers (see job descriptions below). These are fun roles with very important functions as it requires you to be involved in the welcome of athletes to our region and in the celebration of our home. These roles require a fair amount of standing as well as a need to hold or move items for a period of time, within a very large group of people. Some of these roles are not suitable for children under the age of 12, unless they have an adult with them. Organizational uniforms can be worn. T-shirts will be provided for non-uniformed groups.

The Opening Ceremony is on Friday, August 7 at Shell Place. Preshow begins at 7:30 pm, main show starts at 8:15 pm and ends at 10:00 pm. Rehearsals are scheduled for August 4, 5, 6, and 7. All positions will rehearse as well as perform on August 7, however rehearsal dates are for individual positions will differ.

The Closing Ceremony is on Sunday, August 16 at Shell Place. Preshow begins at 5:00 pm, main show starts at 5:30 pm and ends at 7:00 pm. Rehearsals are scheduled for August 15 and 16. All positions will rehearse as well as perform on August 16, however rehearsal dates are for individual positions will differ.

We would love to have you participate in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies! Please let us know by July 3, 2015 (non-uniformed groups – to give enough time for the t-shirt order) OR July 15, 2015 (uniformed groups), if you or your group would like to be assigned to one or more of these roles by emailing Diana Moser at diana.moser@artscouncilwb.ca or 587-674-1625 x.102. Please include the number of people in the group, how many are under 12 years old, and each person’s t-shirt size. Thank you for your support and we look forward to hearing back from you!
