AFA - Artists and Education

This information was retrieved from: http://www.affta.ab.ca/artists-and-education.aspx

The Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA) supports arts residency programs in Alberta schools through the Artists and Education project grant stream (found under the Organization Project Grant umbrella).

The Artists and Education grant stream enables schools to bring professional Alberta artists into their classrooms for projects ranging from one to thirty days in length. Arts residencies encourage students’ creativity and advance K–12 curricula in fine arts and non-fine arts subjects. Visual artists, actors, dancers, musicians, writers, and storytellers have been involved in AFA-funded residency programs throughout Alberta. Schools can partner with any professional Alberta artist who has school residency experience.

For assistance and additional information on the Artists and Education grant stream please contact:
Paul Reich, Arts Development Consultant with the Arts Branch,
(780) 415-0287 (toll-free in Alberta by first dialing 310-0000)
or email Paul Reich.

Note: Schools can find a resource listing of some of Alberta’s professional artists at the Arts Touring Alliance of Alberta’s Young Audience Directory (www.artstouring.com/yad.php). Schools are not required to choose an artist from this directory. Schools may choose to work with any professional Alberta artists in any arts discipline.
