National Dance Week April 22nd – April 29th 2012



The Canadian Dance Assembly proudly presents the first ever National Dance Week leading up to International Dance Day as part of the “I love dance/J’aime la danse” National Campaign. During this week, one theme will be celebrated each day across Canada to embrace the rich and varied landscape of Canadian dance.

Day 1: Sun April 22nd – Dance is vital our communities
Day 2: Mon April 23rd – Dance is fitness and a tool for healthy communities
Day 3: Tues April 24th – Dance expresses diverse communities – social cohesion
Day 4: Wed April 25th – Dance is a source of well being for seniors
Day 5: Thurs April 26th – Dance empowers Canadian youth
Day 6: Fri April 27th – Dance creates a creative economy          
Day 7: Sat April 28th – Canadian dance’s international impact
Day 8: Sun April 29th – International Dance Day!

You don't have to be a dance professional to get involved!

We are looking to engage communities across the country from diverse backgrounds and skill levels.The campaign is not just for dance professionals, it's for everyone who loves dance!  

There are many ways to participate: 

  • Join us on Facebook and Twitter 
  • Read and circulate the dance Manifesto - coming soon!
  • Create an event during “National Dance Week.” We will facilitate publicity for your event.
  • Brand your current April event(s) under “National Dance Week,” and under I love dance/ J'aime la danse any time of the year
  • Sponsor a theme (a day) of National dance week
  • Contribute an article or photo we can post on the I love dance campaign blog www.ilovedancecanada.ca
  • Download the FREE I love dance/J'aime la danse Logo HERE (For Print - For Web) and use in your media and show programs!
